Cobra Kai season 5 – premiere and other important information

Cobra Kai will soon return to us with the 5th season of the series continuation of the classic Karate Kid. What to expect from the upcoming episodes? When is the premiere on Netflix? Here are key information on Cobra Kai season 5.

When Cobra Kai debuted in 2018, nobody expected such a positive reception. Netflix’s production has been really well received, as evidenced by the fact that the platform has decided to order more episodes. When will season 5 premiere? What is known about it?

Cobra Kai season 5 – when is the premiere?

The 5th season Cobra Kai will officially appear on Netflix on September 9, 2022. It is much faster than Internet users assumed. The series was usually released at the turn of December and January. It also turns out that all episodes will be published on the same day. There will be no division into parts like in Stranger Things or La Casa de Papel.

The news that Cobra Kai will receive another season spread around the internet in August 2021, and work on it began in September the same year. The shooting was finished in December. Therefore, probably for this reason, new episodes will appear faster than before.

Trailer for the new season of Cobra Kai

First trailer for the 5th season of Cobra Kai was published on May 6, 2022 and you can watch it below.

The trailer begins with a short recap of the 51st All Valley Karate Championship – the tournament Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang ended up fighting under disputed circumstances, following the controversial victory of Tora and Cobra Kai in the final.

The trailer also reveals Terry Silver’s plans for a dojo franchise across the Valley. Daniel LaRusso stands up to fight Silver, who has asked his former rival Chozen to help him in this.

Meanwhile, Johnny and Robby travel to Mexico in search of Miguel. As a reminder – at the end of Season 4, the young man fled the country to find his father.

In the time to the next season of Cobra Kai, you can always check out other Netflix titles in the meantime – for example in June there are quite a few titles that are definitely worth paying attention to!

Cobra Kai – Season 5 Cast

Already in the trailer you can see that many characters will return. Ralph Macchio and William Zabka will definitely make their return. You will also see again Courtney Henggeler as Amanda LaRusso and Vanessa Rublo as Carmen Diaz, along with Thomas Ian Griffith – the great “villain” Terry Silver. In addition, you should also expect the presence of Martin Kove, as the series’ John Kreese. At the end of Cobra Kai, it was also confirmed that Yuji Okumotoaka Chozen would return to the cast. This one appeared during the third part of the series. 

For the younger cast, the famous faces will return: Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz, Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso, Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene and Peyton List as Tory. Who else can you expect in the upcoming episodes? Certainly Jacob Bertrand (Eli Moskowitz), Gianni DeCenzo (Demetri Alexopoulos), Joe Seo (Kyler Park), Khalil Everage (Chris) or Owen Morgan (Bert), and many others.

The storyline in the 5th season of Cobra Kai

The final of the fourth season of Cobra Kai ended with a big twist – Terry Silver betrayed Kreese and led him to be thrown behind bars. An arrest for attacking the Stingray effectively disqualifies him from the Cobra Kai, and Silver reverts to his evil and cruel methods.

Now the biggest threat will be Terry, who, unlike Kreese, does not have such obvious weaknesses. Worst of all, after Cobra Kai’s victory in the All-Valley tournament, Miyago-Do can no longer act as a dojo.

Season 5 trailer Cobra Kai , you can see Silver execute his plan to transform Cobra Kai into a massive Valley-wide chain of caves. This means one thing – he literally breeds ruthless karate players who will do anything to win.

The key to victory over Silver may be Tory, which has very important information. Well, he knows that Terry paid the referee, ensuring Cobra Kai’s victory in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Johnny has his hands full. Together with his son, he tries to find Miguel who has fled to Mexico. The young man wants to visit his father. The problem is that the man is not aware of having a son at all.  

Apparently, the key to the plot is the return of Chozen, or at least so say the showrunners of the series – Josh Heald and Jon Hurwitz. As they reveal in an interview with TVLine:

Chozen is like a relic of the past that harks back to more aggressive times. The ones where the fight was fought for life and death, not just for competition. The man still feels that he owes Daniel some help and wants to fix everything. Even though LaRusso has long forgiven him.
